I waited over 30 years to see my first whale in the wild. Now I plan expedition cruises and wildlife trips to Alaska, Antarctica, Svalbard and Scotland, so you don't have to wait as long as I did. Something clicked that never unclicked. But I grew up landlocked in Oklahoma without the means to travel, and a marine biology career didn't seem within reach. So I waited. I worked. Hard. It was over 30 years before I finally got on a boat and saw orcas in the wild. I wept. I was thunderstruck, and I thought: I must tell EVERYONE. I've been whale watching 20+ times since, including a pod of belugas at 6:45 AM in Svalbard. Coolcation Adventures exists to create that moment for other people. I specialize in coolcations: journeys to cold and temperate destinations where nature and wildlife take center stage, like whale watching in Baja, Arctic expeditions and the Northern Lights in Iceland. I'm a Fora Travel advisor and Virtuoso Voyages host with a global network of 40,000+ hotel, cruise and tour partners, and part of every booking supports marine conservation through my give-back pledge.
